Bing is a former friend of and collaborator with Tom, a major figure on Tom's channel between 2007 and 2011. He was born on 5 May 1990.

He is the brother of Jennifer Bingham, who is one of Tom's former partners.

Relationship to Tom[]

Early Years[]

Sometime in 2006, during sixth form, Chris and Tom met and quickly became friends. The pair, alongside several of their mutual friends (Rosie Ball, Abi Hunt, Mina Lavender, and Rosie Smith), established a video/media group called Cakebomb. Chris would appear in many of Tom's videos, and Tom would appear in many of Chris'. They also regularly wrote scripts together.

They would begin attending The University of Lincoln together in 2008, continuing collaborations.

Fallout[]

Chris and Tom’s relationship began to break down in their first year at university together as they grew apart as people, and nearly had their friendship end in late 2008. Regardless, they finished uni together, nearly solidifying Cakebomb as a company and moving to London. Again, their friendship nearly ended in 2011, but that was put on hold as Tom began dating Chris’ sister[1].

The major falling out point revolved around Tom’s worsening mental illness and the mutual growth as individuals. Upon starting a new antidepressant in 2013, Tom’s mental state took an extreme turn and resulted in a manic episode in which he emailed a number of people - including Chris - that their friendships should end. Chris did make an effort to fix things, but by mid 2014, it was evident that it wouldn’t work out[1].

In June 2014, he would send Tom a formal email - on his birthday, while he was at VidCon - asking to formally separate their identities. In a mutual contract, it was determined that Chris would be compensated for every appearance in Tom’s videos, his name would be removed from descriptions and titles, his likeness would be removed from thumbnails and merchandise, and it included a nondisclosure agreement that nothing about the separation would be mentioned by either of them. This was honored by both parties for the duration of the contract[1].

Reconciliation[]

In 2018, Chris would Kickstart a second miniseries of Past Bing, Future Bing, set to run sporadically through 2018 and 2019. The first episode of Future Bing - 18 January 2019 - What happened with TomSka and Bing? Explored the details of their falling out, many of which were kept private through the NDA. It also explored what brought them back to more positive terms. The pair were at the same screening of the movie Coco, and eventually ended up speaking for the first time in nearly five years, determining that the animosity that once existed wasn’t there anymore. The NDA was scrapped and Chris’ name was returned to video titles and credits[1]. They do not consider each other friends anymore, but follow each other on social media and occasionally interact.

Personal Work[]

Chris established his first YouTube account, Slomozovo, on 23 February 2008[2]. He used this channel to post live action comedy sketches as well as some animated sketches.

In 2011, he started a second channel, bingradio[3], where he began his first round of Past Bing, Future Bing, a vlog series over the span of two years; every other day would be vlogged in 2011, and the alternate days in 2012/13. They would be posted - in order - in 2012, creating a “conversation through time”. This initial run spanned between 17 January 2011 to 17 January 2013. Following the series, he posted more sporadic vlogs and would continue in the coming years.

Between 2014 and 2016, Chris produced two albums, titled Progress (2014)[4] and MMCCXV (2016)[5]. Progress, primarily written and performed by Chris, explored several themes from his years as a teen and indirectly referenced Tom several times. MMCCXV was more experimental and loosely thematic.

Chris would proceed with a second, “mini” round of Past Bing, Future Bing in 2016, filming 17 January to 16 February 2016 and 18 January to 17 February 2017.

PBFB 2019 would end in June 2019, coinciding with the release of rewards for the Kickstarter backers of the next, year-long round of PBFB set to run 2020-21, releasing in 2022. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and personal issues, PBFB 2021 was canceled in January 2022, having only run about a quarter of the intended length (until April for Past Bing, formally). A number of unreleased episodes were posted to YouTube as unlisted, and all Kickstarter perks were fulfilled.

In August 2019, Chris would release a third album as High Five Spaceship, titled I Am Going Up Come With Me[6], which had begun production in 2017 following a successful Kickstarter. One of the tracks, Mama Coco, was directly inspired by the reconciliation with Tom at the screening of Coco.

Currently, Chris is the Head of Operations of Eddsworld, working alongside Matt Hargreaves and Edd’s family to continue producing episodes, comics, and other content for the series. Production on the new era began in 2017, and the first new episode was posted in 2020.
